Frankfort, KY – The Kentucky Department of Corrections honored University of Kentucky President Dr. Lee T. Todd on September 18, 2006, with the Lucille Hurt Robuck “Commitment to Corrections” Award. The award is presented annually to an individual who has made significant contributions to the Department of Corrections in the past year and named in honor of a woman who dedicated her life to the criminal justice field, Lucille Hurt Robuck.

Todd was selected for the award as a result of his commitment to providing quality, efficient and innovative health care to Kentucky’s inmate population. UK is a partner in the Kentucky Corrections Health Services Network (KCHSN) – which is a collaboration of state and private entities that has saved the taxpayers millions of dollars by providing a medical network for inmates that negotiates better rates with providers, improves the delivery of care and cuts down on duplication of services and billing errors.

Also honored at the awards ceremony was Larry Chandler, who was named Warden of the Year. Chandler, who is currently warden at the state’s largest prison, the Kentucky State Reformatory (KSR) in LaGrange, has served at the top post at two other state prisons and recently led KSR in the bold move of going smoke-free.

Ann Mullins was named Probation & Parole Supervisor of the Year for the Department. Mullins, a 25-year veteran of the Department and the Division of Probation and Parole, worked her way up through the ranks starting first as a clerk in the Whitesburg office. She was promoted to District 11 Supervisor in August 2003.

A new award, “Rookie of the Year” is presented to an individual who has demonstrated outstanding job performance in the 12 months or less since becoming a DOC employee. Hong Lin, a Network Analyst III in the Central Office Information Technology Branch, received the award.

And the top awards, “Commissioner’s Awards,” were presented to: Deputy Warden Nancy Doom, Kentucky State Penitentiary; Sgt. Bruce Mason, Bell County Forestry Camp; Randy White, Unit Administrator, Kentucky Correctional Institution for Women; and Timothy Carmon, Assistant Supervisor, District 6, Probation & Parole. (A complete listing of the awards can be found on the Department’s website at www.corrections.ky.gov.)
