Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Department of Corrections Deputy Commissioner James Schomig today announced the promotion of Randy White to Deputy Warden of Luther Luckett Correctional Complex in LaGrange. White’s promotion was effective October 1.

“Randy White is a man of integrity and honor who exhibits a leadership style that earned him a 2006 Commissioner’s Award,” said Schomig. “He is one our ‘up and coming’ professionals with a bright career in front of him.”

White began his career in 1996 at Northpoint Training Center (NTC) as a Correctional Officer. He transferred to Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex (EKCC) in 1997 and later that year was promoted to Classification and Treatment Officer at the Kentucky Correctional Institution for Women (KCIW). White was again promoted to Unit Administrator I in 1998 and in October 1999 to United Administrator II.

In January of 2005, White was ordered to active duty as a Sergeant in his National Guard Unit and left his family and job to serve in Operation Iraqi Freedom for one year. While in Bagdad, he was a squad leader and worked with the Iraqi Police conducting combat patrols. Upon the completion of his tour of duty, White served as KCIW’s Accreditation Manager and supervised preparation for the most recent American Correctional Association’s (ACA) audit. He is a member of ACA and serves as a hostage negotiator.

White is a 1994 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree in corrections/juvenile Services, bachelor’s degree in police administration and minor in psychology. He is a native of Wolfe County and resides in Pewee Valley with his wife Susan, and their son Daniel.  The couple is expecting another child later this month.
