Justice Assistance Grants Program

The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program allows states and local governments to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime and to improve the criminal justice system.  U.S. Department of Justice awards funds to states and certain local jurisdictions based on population and crime rates.  As the state recipient of these funds, Justice and Public Safety Cabinet conducts a competitive application cycle on an annual basis.  Qualified applicants may apply for funds in one of three categories:  Drug Task Forces; Restricted (under $10,000 proposed total project cost); and Unrestricted (over $10,000 proposed total project cost).
