Kentucky State Fraternal Order of Police President Berl Perdue , Jr. is the Sheriff of Clark County. He served 25 years, before being elected Sheriff, with the Winchester Police Department, where he retired at the rank of Detective Sergeant. In 2008, the Kentucky Sheriff’s Association named him Sheriff of the Year.
Berl is a 1981 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Police Administration with a minor study in Corrections. He graduated from the KLEC Basic Police Academy Class #141 as President of his class in 1982.
Berl is currently serving as President of the Kentucky State Fraternal Order of Police, having assumed that position in June 2012. Before being named President of the FOP, Berl served as Vice President from 1999-2012. He also served as president of his local FOP lodge, Winchester/Clark County FOP Lodge #34, from 1991-2011. Berl proudly represents over 9,800 sworn law enforcement professionals across Kentucky. The Kentucky State FOP is the largest law enforcement organization in the state.
He serves on the Professional Standards Committee.
