Jeremy Thompson

Jeremy Thompson is the Chief of Police for the Elizabethtown Police Department as of May, 2019. He began his career in law enforcement in 1992 as a military policeman in the United States Air Force. Chief Thompson was hired by the Kentucky State Police in 1998, where he served until retirement in May, 2018. While with KSP, Thompson held roles as a trooper, detective, sergeant, lieutenant and his final role was as West Troop Major over the 8 western posts of KSP.

​Chief Thompson attended the University of Louisville’s Southern Police Institute, Administrative Officers Course in 2011 and was selected as the valedictorian and class president. After retiring from KSP, he worked for the United States Attorney’s Office for one year before being selected as chief of police. He currently sits on several local boards and volunteers for events in our community. Chief Thompson resides in Hardin County with his wife of 26 years, Karen; they have two adult children, Tyler and Lauren.
