Rich Ferretti boasts an illustrious three-decade career as a distinguished Federal law enforcement executive. With a wealth of experience, he has adeptly led, planned, and managed large-scale, high-risk protective operations and investigations throughout his tenure.
Commencing his journey with the U.S. Secret Service, Rich served as a Special Agent in various capacities, including roles within the Columbia Field Office, the Washington Field Office, and the esteemed Presidential Protection Division, serving under Presidents William J. Clinton and George W. Bush. Holding pivotal supervisory positions, such as Resident Agent in Charge of the Albuquerque Resident Office and Special Agent in Charge of the Louisville Field Office, Rich demonstrated unwavering dedication and leadership.
In 2019, the Secretary of Homeland Security handpicked Rich to assume the crucial role of Federal Security Coordinator for the 145th Kentucky Derby, showcasing his exceptional capabilities in managing critical security operations.
Transitioning from his tenure with the Secret Service, Rich assumed the role of Vice President of Safety and Security for Appharvest, an agricultural-tech company based in Morehead, Kentucky. Additionally, he served as the Director of Protective Security and Intelligence for the Secure Community Network, a nonprofit security organization affiliated with the Jewish Federations of North America.
In January 2024, Rich embarked on a new chapter as the Commissioner of the Department of Criminal Investigations at the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General. He provides direct executive oversight in this position, shaping DCI's strategic management and operational efficacy while adeptly managing administrative and budgetary affairs.
Hailing from Elizabethtown, KY, Rich holds a bachelor’s degree in Russian Studies from the University of Kentucky. Beyond his professional endeavors, he finds solace on his Oldham County farm, where he spends quality time with his wife, Linda, and their dogs.
Rich serves on the Professional Standards Committee for the Council.
